Six CEOs from well-known Swedish companies who participated in Mitt Liv's CEO program in 2022 will present a blueprint/recommendations which targets boards of all Swedish companies. The recommendations are designed to help making demands on management teams to take responsibility for diversity and inclusion in practice.
A second issue that the CEOs have decided to focus on is to address the situation that segregation, exclusion and polarization have led to in Sweden. All companies commit to an engagement in organisations that work in marginalized communities.
Sofia Appelgren also presents the hitherto secret names of the CEOs participating in Mitt Liv's program CEOs for D&I in 2023. The well-known organisations range from interior design to industrial technology, from fashion to motoring. Global challenges require cross-border responses - the program now takes the step beyond Sweden's borders and takes on diversity and inclusion internationally.

We will see the results of a recent Novus survey in which 500 managers and leaders tell us how they see their responsibility for diversity and inclusion, as well as how their organizations work with the issues. The survey has been carried out on behalf of Mitt Liv for the second year, and shows how far Swedish companies have come. Is diversity and inclusion on the top management's agenda? Have more people switched from "talk" to "walk"?

Pål Dobrin explains the concept of the Inner Development Goals and his ongoing research on the connection between inner and outer transformation. Pål Dobrin is a meditation teacher and method developer. His work in the field of adult development includes the course program CARE - finding joy at work, which was developed to work with stress, compassion and culture at Chalmers. He is responsible for methods in a four-year research project at Linköping University that investigates the usefulness of contemplative techniques in the borderland between inner and outer transition.

Here’s the story of one of the mentees in Mitt Liv's mentoring program, Thathsara Palliyaguru. She takes us on her journey from Sri Lanka via studies in New York, to Gothenburg and her dream job in Volvo's strategy team. Per Utterbäck, who recruited her, tells us how he uses Mitt Liv's talent pool as a source of ambitious talents. According to him, their rich flora of experience, competence, culture and language skills increase Volvo's innovation and competitiveness.
Thathsara holds a degree in international affairs and geopolitics from the City University of New York, where she also won the Most Dedicated Student Award. Her master's is in Innovation and Global Sustainable Development at Lund University. Per has a 30+ year long career behind him, where a common thread has been to build sustainable teams, organisations, strategies and employees.

D&I handlar om människors lika värde och det har drivit Sofia att jobba aktivt med dessa frågor. För att komma igång med D&I arbetet, handlar det om att skapa medvetenhet kring det först, och därefter vara väldigt tydlig med mål och konsekvenser berättar Sofia. Vidare delar hon hur viktigt det är med ett långsiktigt och hållbart perspektiv och att alltid fråga sig själv som företag hur man bidrar till ett bättre samhälle. Även om man leverar på lönsamhet, så behöver man lika mycket bidra till mångfald och inkludering.
Sofia delar att hon tror att bolag som inte jobbar med D&I, och inte tar samhällsansvar, inte kommer att kunna attrahera rätt kompetens eller fortsätta vara relevanta I framtiden. För att börja jobba med D&I är det viktigaste första steget att fundera på varför det är viktigt att göra det, och att försöka prioritera ett mer inkluderande perspektiv.

19. Deloitte Sweden's CEO Jan Berntsson on the importance of including management in D&I work and the value of mentoring for integration on the labour market (00:27:43)

The aim of the program is to get the trade and industry to scale up the work for diversity and inclusion in their organisations and take responsibility for one of Sweden's biggest societal challenges: exclusion in the labour market.
This episode features Deloitte Sweden's CEO Jan Berntsson who was part of the first group of "CEOs for D&I". Jan thinks that it is important that the company mirrors the society – Sweden has a minority group of 20% with foreign backgrounds of the total population which means that the company should reflect this, on all levels including the boards. Jan states that "We must also mirror our clients, to align with their thinking".

Jan shares why it is important to involve management, not only HR, in diversity and inclusion work, and how he encourages managers to become mentors to learn about the journey of migrating to Sweden and getting into the labour market.
