(T)All Women Have It Hard Dating | “Tall Girl Dating Theory” & Dating Advice for Tall Women (00:18:53)
People have a lot to say about dating as a tall woman. We’re often told that our options are limited because there aren’t loads of tall men out there in the world. And in conjunction with that, we’re told to keep our options open and consider shorter men. Then, our experiences show us that many men don’t prefer or even consider tall women when dating, for whatever reason, whether they find us intimidating, masculine, or they feel insecure around us, etc. And we can’t forget about the back and forth with short women in that “all the shorter women are taking tall men” debate. It kinda sounds horrendous, honestly. However, our experiences have become so popular that some of our dating struggles have become stereotyped and are compared to or used to name other general dating struggles. Today, we’re going to discuss why tall women’s dating struggles have been given a bit of a bad rep and how the tall girlies can navigate these struggles with confidence while remaining sane. There are so many things to love about being tall as a woman. We naturally command every room we enter. We’re naturally more respected. We give off modelesque vibes. We can walk quickly, run quickly, and reach for things on top shelves without asking. Clothes hit differently on us. We stand out without trying. And the list goes on and on and on…And with all of these amazing things to love about being tall, sometimes you have to wonder why many tall women are insecure about, or even hate their height? Why don’t they realize how amazing and unique it is? The answer to this is honestly pretty complex and we’re actually gonna discuss this along with the effects of height privilege on tall women. Tall Women Are Trending… AGAIN | Charlotte Tall Tour Drama & #TallTok Calling Out Tall Comments (00:25:00)
This year was definitely the year for tall women on social media. And I’m HERE FOR IT. Starting with the Big Mama trend, tall women have been showing up online embracing their height and size, and other people have been eating it up, too, saying that tall women are beautiful and so underrated. Like, yes, yes, we are. The Big Mama trend has led to a whole slew of smaller trends where tall women are embracing their height. I will say it’s died down a teeny bit, but now the tall girlies are trending again, but for something different. There’s a bit of drama and content highlighting one of the struggles we face as tall women. And I kinda wanna give my thoughts on them, so make sure you tune in to the full episode! Tall Women Are FED UP: Why Tall Fashion Keeps Missing the Mark ft. Altagia (00:28:49)
The tall girlies are tired y’all. The tall girlies are tired and annoyed by the fashion industry not being inclusive of tall women. Prime example: one of the biggest complaints I hear from tall women is that clothing stores have a petite section but not a tall section. I honestly still don’t understand the thinking behind that, but whatever :/ Anyways, another complaint is that yes, some major brands sell tall clothing options, but they’re not ‘tall’ enough. Listen, it’s a whole mess out here y’all. And part of the reason for this podcast is to put you guys on to the clothing brands that are specifically for tall women, including Altagia. Today, I’m joined by founder and fellow tall girly, Alina, to discuss what many brands get wrong about tall clothing, why some tall clothing brands are lacking in the style department, and the story behind her brand, so definitely tune into this episode for more! This Is the Biggest Scam in Tall Women’s Fashion | How Brands Are Pretending to Serve Tall Women (00:15:32)
Many clothing brands love to lie.Oof we are starting off strong here lol. But it’s kind of true. Clothing brands often lie or are misleading about the quality of their clothing, the color, the fit, you name it. Like you know when you order “tall pants,” but they end up coming in and fitting like capris? Or you see a dress fit nicely on a model who’s like 5’10,” but when you receive it, it fits like a shirt? Well, if you’re a tall girly listening to this, I know the answer is yes. Anyways, what if I told you that brands do this ON PURPOSE? Yes, it turns out that brands aren’t oblivious to what they’re doing with “tall friendly” clothing. A marketing tactic reveals that brands are knowingly deceiving tall women. So today, we’re gonna discuss that in this episode and how tall women can sniff out these lies. Tune in for more! Do Tall Women REALLY Love Their Height...Or Is It Just A Trend? | A Tall Girl’s Thanksgiving (00:25:33)
Being tall is absolutely amazing, but it can also be annoying at times…No one can deny that fact lol. One of the most annoying things is the clothing situation and not being able to find pants that reach our ankles, long sleeves that reach our wrists, shoes that are big enough, etc. Honestly, that’s probably the #1 problem tall people experience, especially women. People and their stares, comments, jokes, and backhanded compliments: those things can also get annoying or even make us insecure. Spaces like bathrooms, cars, airplanes, and kitchens aren’t the most tall-friendly, making some of the most basic life tasks very uncomfortable or hard to do. These are just a few of the struggles. Recently, more and more tall women have been speaking up on social media about the things they love about being tall, especially with trends like the Big Mama trend. However, there’s been a bit of a shift. There’s a new trend where the tall girlies are now expressing their insecurities and frustrations surrounding their height. This kinda makes you wonder: is the tall girl confidence real, or is it just a trend that’s dying out? Well, we’re answering this question in today’s episode, so be sure to tune in! Tall Women Don’t Need to Eat Less: How Social Media LIES to Tall Women About Health and Fitness (00:25:56)
If you’re a tall girly listening to this right now, tell me if you’ve ever had this realization. You’ve been following this one specific fitness creator for years. She’s your go-to and you want to look and feel like her. You copy her workouts, try out some of her recipes, take the supplements she recommends, all of it. However, your body still looks nothing like hers…In fact, you’re not seeing any type of results. One day, you’re scrolling through this fitness creator’s page and stumbled across a video you haven’t seen before where she lists off her measurements and find out she’s 5’4” and maybe weighs 120 pounds. Now it doesn’t click at first, but you may be standing at 5’9” and weigh 180 pounds or standing at 6’3” and weigh 220 pounds. Yet, all you can think about is why your body doesn’t look like hers. You’re not alone in this. So many of us tend to take advice from those who have different body types because that’s what our feeds are filled with. So today, we’re diving into tall girl fitness and health, where I’m calling out myths, lies, and unrealistic expectations and talking about why so many tall girlies feel lost when it comes to their health and fitness. Why Are Tall Women ALWAYS NEGLECTED In The Fashion Industry? | And How Amalli Talli Is The Solution (00:46:24)
Did you know that tall-specific brick-and-mortar stores once existed? Like actual physical stores that sold tall clothing? I don’t know about you, but I’m just now finding out about this. These days, we’re so used to not being able to find what we need in stores. Pants fit like capris, long sleeves hit like three-quarters, and dresses never quite reach the right length. And as tall girls, we’re so frustrated by this. That’s why I’m so excited about today’s episode. I’m joined by not one, but two guests: Alli and Amy, the tall sister duo behind Amalli Talli. They’ve experienced the tall-girl fashion struggles that so many of us face, and they decided to do something about it.In this episode, we’re talking about why tall clothing isn’t sold in stores, why tall brick-and-mortar stores don’t exist anymore, what other brands get wrong when making tall clothing, and of course, the story behind their brand Amalli Talli. We have a lot to cover today, so make sure you tune into the full episode! Here are their deets: Website: https://amallitalli.com/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/amallitalli Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/amallitalliPinterest: https://www.pinterest.com/amallitalli/ Buy Me A Coffee: https://buymeacoffee.com/atallgirlspodcast Subscribe to A Tall Girl's Newsletter: https://atallgirlspodcast.beehiiv.com/subscribeLet's stay connected: https://beacons.ai/atallgirlspodcast Leave a review and let me know how tall you are: https://atallgirlspodcast.com/reviews
This Is Tall A Woman's BIGGEST FEAR… | And It’s Ruining Our Mental Health (00:20:28)
Do any other tall girls know that feeling when you walk into a room, and it’s like all eyes are on you? Idk…you get kind of clammy and feel like you wanna run away and hide. Or what about that feeling when you see yourself in a group picture and realize how much you stick out in comparison to others?OR that feeling when some random person comes up to you in a store just to point out how tall you are/tell you that you’re tall? Geesh, there are a lot of feelings going on here. I’ll give extra hugs to the girlies who’ve experienced all of these feelings. But these experiences have something in common, and that involves being seen, being noticeable, maybe even being judged. In today’s episode, we’re gonna talk about how some tall women don’t like or even fear being perceived, and how that’s ultimately detrimental to their confidence and mental health. Are Tall Women Lying About Their Height? | Because People Stay Arguing With Us About It (00:21:39)
If you’re a tall girly reading this right now, I want you to tell me if this has ever happened to you. You’re at a bar, or if you’re under 21 in the U.S., you’re somewhere other than the bar, and a random stranger comes up to you and asks you how tall you are. Nothing new, of course; it happens from time to time. You’re feeling good vibes today, so you answer the question. Just as an example, you say that you’re 6’2” because you are. And then the stranger says, “You can’t be 6’2” because I’m 6’2” and I’m looking up at you.” And no, you’re not wearing heels, by the way. Or you are and proceed to take them off to show your actual height (spoiler: you’re still taller).Either way, you’re like no, I AM 6’2”, but whatever. Then, the stranger quite literally starts arguing with you about how you’re wrong and you’re the one lying and bla bla bla. And you’re just like chill, we literally don’t even know each other; it’s not that deep babes. There are many tall women who have experienced something like this, and I’m sure they all question why it's THAT serious. Well, we’re hopefully gonna get to the bottom of this in today’s episode, so make sure you tune in! Why Is Tall Clothing So UGLY? | The Tall Girlies Hate Tall Clothing?? (00:25:06)
The tall girlies have come a long way with the fashion and clothing struggles. Whether it’’s not finding clothing items that are long enough or having to settle for weirdly fitting men’s clothing, we’ve been through A LOT. But now we have so many options. Bigger retailers are now including tall sizing for some of their pieces and various small tall brands are popping up left and right. Hearing this, you’d think everything is all dandy, right?WRONG. Well, kinda. We have tall clothing, but according to some tall women, there seems to be something lacking. Like taste…or style. Oh dear, that sounds a bit harsh. In today’s episode, we’re gonna determine whether or not tall-friendly women’s clothing is ugly and explore the reasons why some tall women believe that they actually are kinda ugly. The Masculinization of Tall Women vs. The Feminization of Short Women (00:19:35)
We’re gonna start with a question. Have you ever noticed how height plays a role in how you’re treated as a woman? Just as an example: many women feel as though people take them more seriously partially due to their height whereas many short women feel the opposite. Physical appearance plays a huge role in how people perceive you. And to many, that usually means clothing and personal style, body art, even skin tone and weight. However, height is one of those more subtle things that people don’t even realize they’re treating you a certain way because of it, whether in the workplace, friendships, or even romantic relationships. And we’re gonna dive deeper into why this is the case, how that affects the everyday lives of tall and short women, and the role it plays in both parties’ confidence, so make sure to tune in today! Does This Type of Tall Woman Have It HARDER? | When Tall Doesn’t Fit The “Ideal Look” (00:22:06)
Existing as a tall woman can be difficult at times.Okay, I’m making it seem like being a tall woman sucks. And truth be told, it DOES suck sometimes, but overall, it is a beautiful experience. Truly. There are so many things to love about being a tall girly. However, I’m not gonna lie to y’all. There are other features in addition to our height that often play a part in our unique experiences that can negatively affect us. For example, I did an episode discussing the unique struggles tall Black women face based on different stereotypes, like aggressive, intimidating, etc. I essentially said that being Black often leads to people associating these women with those stereotypes, and being tall kind of doubles down on those stereotypes, if you get what I mean. And now it’s been brought to my attention that the tall plus-sized girlies have their own unique set of struggles. From clothes to being on the receiving end of aggressive behaviors to oversexualization, the tall plus-sized girlies are going through it. What It's REALLY Like Dating As A Tall Woman | Are The Tall Girlies Desperate? (00:25:38)
Dating as a girly is such a beautiful experience. Well…it should be a beautiful experience. Because dating as a woman in 2025 can honestly be a hot mess. So adding height to the mix (like being a tall girly) can definitely make it an even hotter mess. And some of the experiences I’ve heard and/or read literally validate that last point. I’ve heard many things from their dates lying about their height on dating apps to their dates telling them not to wear heels to the oversexualizing comments to being rejected solely based on height, and the list just goes on and on and on.So today, we’re gonna dive a bit deeper into the reality of dating as a tall woman and how other tall girlies are turning something that seems difficult and annoying into a more positive and fun experience. Do Short Girls Secretly Have Beef With Tall Girls? (00:20:39)
There are many types of people who have some tension with tall women. For some reason, that sounds very odd to say, but it’ll make more sense the deeper I get into this episode. We have the old people who have no problem being shady towards the tall girlies. And if you’re a tall girl listening to this right now, I’m sure an old lady on the street has told you that you’re never gonna find a husband “with that height”. Happens to the best of us :/// Then we have the opposite side with little kids who have no filter and will say the rudest things to your face and/or look at you like you’re a monster. Then we have the short men with fragile egos. No need to explain that one further. But what about the short girlies? Some of you guys have said that there’s something going on between the tall girlies and short girlies. Maybe some beef?? Well, in today’s episode, we are gonna unpack that, so make sure you tune in! The Obsession With Tall Girls Is Out of Control | Why Is Everyone So Fixated on Height? (00:17:34)
We’re gonna set the scene for the tall girls.By the way, this may or may not actually be a true story. You’re a tall girly in the grocery store, shopping because we all have to eat. A lady approaches you and asks you to reach a can of whatever off a high shelf. Well, a high shelf for her because she’s pretty short. Now, of course, it’s your literal duty as a tall citizen to reach things from high areas for people, so you do it. You hand the can of whatever, and she says thank you. You go back to browsing. But she keeps talking…and that’s where it all goes downhill. She goes, “You know, you’re pretty large for such a pretty girl.” Oh????? Anyways, you laugh it off. She continues, saying, “I’ve been eyeing you from afar because I didn’t know how big you were, but as I got closer, you’re bigger than I expected.” Oh, so we’re stalking people now?? Now you’re weirded out, and so you just say “oh…awesome”, and try to walk away. AND THEN she says, “You know, my son likes really tall girls. You’d be the perfect height for him”. And that’s when you speed away because who says something like that if they’re not gonna kidnap you. I’ve watched too many horror movies and Dateline episodes to try to figure out what happens next. Anyways, this story isn’t the first time that a tall girl (who happened to be me lol) would receive weird comments or have a conversation solely based on her height. And in today’s episode, we’re getting to the bottom of why some people are so fixated or even obsessed with a tall woman’s height. Tune in to the full episode for more! Are Tall Women Not Feminine Enough? | Why Some Tall Women Don’t Feel Feminine (00:18:43)
If you’re a tall girly, I’m sure you’ve heard the idea that tall women are perceived as masculine. I mean, there’s nothing new here. We know height equals masculinity in society’s eyes or whatever, leading many people, whether people we know or complete strangers, to kind of act out on this idea by treating us aggressively and even misgendering us. We all know the gist here. But there’s a bit of a flip side to this, where some tall girls kind of believe this notion. Basically, there are tall women who don’t feel feminine or even have a hard time embracing their femininity. And a Reddit post on this led me down this huge rabbit hole about how and why some tall women feel this way. If you’re a tall girly who resonates with this, #1 you are not alone, and #2 I highly recommend tuning in to this episode because we’re gonna get into the nitty-gritty of this topic. Check it out! The Short Girls Are LYING To The Tall Girls | Why Can’t We All Just Agree on What’s Considered Tall for A Woman? (00:25:59)
Every single tall girl tuning in right now knows the struggle of finding clothes that fit properly. We have the clothes that, quite frankly, aren’t long enough. The clothes that are long enough, but the proportions are horrendous (like the only reason the pair of pants is long enough is because the crotch area is down to our knees lol). We also have the brands lying about their clothing being “tall friendly”. Whichever struggle you face the most, it’s easy to feel like the options are very limited. So we may take our search online, hopefully to find other tall girls reviewing clothes that fit them. Maybe you stumble across a video of a girly reviewing a pair of jeans. Those jeans fit her well, and they even drag on the floor a little. She claims it’s “tall girl friendly”. Now you’re excited, ready to figure out the brand of the jeans, and the girl in the video says, “Oh, by the way, I’m 5’6”” :///// She really had us there for a sec. Anyways, today, we’re discussing how some of the short girlies are lying about how some of the clothing items they’re trying on are “tall girl friendly” and why that’s the case. These Men Have a Problem with Tall Women?? | The Height Standards Are Getting Out Of Hand Y'all... (00:20:59)
It’s no secret that there are people in a tall woman’s life who can make her insecure, and this can be either growing up, in their adult life, or both stages. And I think I did a few episodes regarding each group or some of these groups of people. We have our peers, especially growing up, whether it’s our classmates, teammates, or “friends” calling us those weird, annoying names and asking dumb questions like “How’s the weather up there?” We also have the adults like teachers, coaches, or even strangers making assumptions about us or staring at us because of our height. Then, we have family members, the ones who are supposed to always have our backs but pick us apart and make horrible self-comparisons. And then we have men. And not just any random dude. According to a tall girly on TikTok, this is a specific category of men. And before you come for me, I’m NOT HATING ON MEN. I understand that this is not representative of all of them (even the ones in the category). I’m simply providing commentary. Do Tall Women Need To Be Humbled? | Why People Behave Aggressively Toward Tall Women (00:18:18)
Do any other tall girls remember almost always being paired up or grouped with the boys during gym class? Let me get into this story. So I was in the 9th or 10th grade, I think? We have different units where we do a different activity for a few weeks, then move on to the next activity for a few weeks, and so forth and so on. So at one point in time, it was the basketball unit. I’m sure you know where I’m going with this… There were 3 levels: level 1, level 2, and level 3. Level 1 being for the beginners and level 3 being for advanced players. Now, the gym teacher did know that I played (past tense played) basketball about 2 or 3 years prior. Mind you, there were other girls on the basketball team in that gym class, but I was the only girl placed in the level 3 group…with all of the boys :///Whatever, we were playing, and I’m on defense. This dude…I guess he was turning around, and he literally elbowed me in my face. And proceeds to keep playing like nothing happened. So naturally, I yelped and literally stood on the sideline, deleted. I heard the teacher screaming, “Why were you so aggressive? You wouldn’t do that to a girl, would you?” And the guy was like “no”. And the teacher was like, “Why would you do that? She’s a girl!” And the guy was like, “Oh, I forgot. She’ll be fine.” YOU FORGOT? I’LL BE FINE?? Anyways…. Albeit this was a small and hopefully unintentional thing, this is just one example of rough, aggressive behaviors that some people have toward tall women, and we’re gonna dive deeper into that today, so tune into the episode for more! Literally NEVER Do This to A Tall Girl | Why Tall Girls STILL Struggle with Insecurities (00:18:36)
At some point in their lives, whether for a short period of time or for years and years and years, many (if not all) tall girls have felt insecure about their height. It’s natural. It’s inevitable. Everyone gets insecure at times. And if we lived through similar tall girl experiences, the insecurities are DEFINITELY real. However, there are people who don’t believe they’re real?? Or let me rephrase it, there are people who believe these insecurities shouldn’t be real. Like they shouldn’t exist at all. Listen, there are a lot of things that rub me the wrong way as a tall girl and invalidating comments are definitely up there. “I wish I had your height.” “I wouldn’t be insecure if I were you.” “You have no reason to feel bad about your height.” Like listen, I get it but also not really. Why Is The Shoe Industry IGNORING Tall Women? | Literally No One Talks About This… (00:20:29)
I wanna provide a little context for the tall girlies before getting into this episode. I went shoe shopping with a friend a few weeks ago because, you know, a girly had a couple of outings coming up, so I wanted to get some new shoes. Little did I know that that would be a little difficult, but we’ll get into that in a second. We went to Nordstrom Rack and walked past rows and rows of women’s shoes. We passed by the size 5 section, size 6 section, size 7 section, just rows and rows of varieties of shoes like sneakers, heels, sandals, flats, you name it. I’m excited like omg I can’t wait to find these in my size. Eventually, I get to the size 9.5 section (that’s my size) and why was it like only half a row???? Literally ONE HALF of a row. I’m like okay?? I turn around a corner within the store and see another half a row of size 9.5 shoes. I’m like oh…this is it?? I turn around and I see a wall with size 10 shoes (really just sneakers and boots). And the same with size 11 shoes. I don’t even know if that location had anything past a size 11, and if they did, it was not very visible. Many tall women I’ve interviewed on this podcast have a shoe size of 11, 12, or even 13. So, if I’m struggling to find variety in a size 9.5…are the other tall girlies ok?? Today, we’re gonna be talking about the shoe struggle many tall women face and why this isn’t spoken about enough. Alright tall girlies, picture this. Hypothetically, you’re single and into men. Oof, we’re already off to a rather interesting start lol. You’re on this date with a guy, and he’s tall too. Maybe he’s around you’re height; maybe he’s a lot taller than you. Let your imagination run wild lol. This is a first date, by the way. It’s going great; you’re getting to know each other, cracking jokes, getting flirtatious or whatever, y’all are talking, and he just whips out “You and me, we could totally have D1 babies”.And oh yeah, he never asked you if you wanted kids!!! XDDDDD You probably cringed like oh…haha…yeahhhh. Or maybe you’re into that. Who knows? Okay, I know this is a weird hypothetical situation, but you never know. This may have happened to someone. Did this happen to you? Anyways, I was just trying to warm you up to this episode topic, where we’re talking about the comment some tall women get about making D1 babies and how some tall women may not even want tall daughters. Do Tall Girls ACTUALLY Hate Being Tall? | How Our Responses To Comments Reveal Our Thoughts About Our Height (00:20:49)
Every single tall person known to existence has had a complicated relationship with their height. And speaking from my experience as a tall girly, I know I’ve had quite the tricky relationship with mine. There were times when I loved being tall. It was the greatest thing ever; it made me feel powerful and unique and beautiful even. And there were times when I was like why did my tall dad and above-average height mom have to make me tall again? From the self comparisons to my awkward tall teen phase to even the adults closest to me making me feel insecure about my height, it was a lot to deal with. Can any other tall girls relate? It’s almost like do the cons outweigh the pros? When it comes to being a tall girl, is there more bad than good? Honestly, it gets to a point where you have to ask, do tall girls hate being tall? Okay, that was a bit extreme, but we’re gonna answer this question and more in the episode, so make sure you tune in! The HARSH Reality of Being a 6’4” Woman ft. Alie Alexis | How Height Impacts Confidence, Fashion, and More (00:26:44)
The experiences that tall women go through are honestly…pretty wild. If you’re a tall girly, you understand 110%. Yes, there are the fashion struggles like jeans hitting mid-calf, long sleeves not reaching your wrists, and not even finding clothes that fit your length. There are also the comments like “oh my gosh, you’re so big” or “are you sure you’re a woman?” and we can’t forget about the aggressive behavior. Like people will literally roll up on you and try to fight you. And it seems like the taller you are, the wilder these experiences are. And today’s guest knows exactly what I’m talking about. Today, I’m joined by 6’4” fashionista Alie (also known as six four unicorn period), who has been using her voice, height, and style to create an accepting and welcoming space for tall women online. We’re gonna be talking about tall girl experiences, her fashion struggles as a 6’4” woman, and some intel on the first-ever tall girl brand trip with TJL Collection. Tune into the episode for more!
