Starting with her Twitter Chat which opened late 2017 #AbuseTalk, this developed into an online forum in 2018. In 2019, Jennifer launched a podcast which include interviews with those in the sector and gives followers the opportunity to ask burning questions.

EP54 Ute Susan Weiss - Abuse over time.... (00:52:23)
I was born on 23rd Feb 1962 in Stuttgart, Germany.
Having a very imaginative mind I was reading books from a very young age. I´m still reading a lot and I love watching movies.
I started traveling when I was a teenager and learning about other countries and cultures opened my mind very much.
After school I worked as an au-pair in Winchester and went to a language school studying English.
I wanted to be a vet but didn´t get into vet school. I studied Agrobiology at the University of Hohenheim, Stuttgart instead.
My studies enabled me to travel as well: I worked on farms in Switzerland, New Zealand, Germany and participated in a student exchange program with the University of Georgia, Athens, USA
After University I didn´t do my PhD - as everyone expected - but went on a trip around the world as a backpacker for almost 1 1/2 years.
When I came back to Germany I was broke but happy. I didn´t feel like pursuing an academic career. Instead I found a job at a little publisher´s at Lake Constance. I worked as an editor, secretary, translator, horse handler etc. We published a working horse magazine. That´s where I met Henry (not his real name).
When I turned 30 I wanted to start a family and have a little farm in the country :) Before that I actually never imagined myself as being a mother.
Henry wanted the same and I felt he was my soul mate. Yeah. Love bombing here we come .....
Our dating was insane, intense and crazy - I´ve never felt more loved. I got pregnant and we got married.
He got more abusive. After son no. 2 life with him was hell - but not always. We had good times too.
When my youngest said: I wish Daddy was dead I knew something was very wrong.
he moved out in 2002, we got divorced in 2005, financial abuse stopped in Oct 2020.
After he had moved out my sons and I had a great family life. I started working as an English teacher and later on as a Biology and Health Care teacher as well. I work in adult education and at a vocational college.
I live in the Black Forest right now, near Freudenstadt. (That´s the northern part of the Black Forest)
My sons are wonderful grown up men of 28 and 25. One lives in Munich, the other in Gießen (near Frankfurt)
I am no contact with Henry
I´ve written my story „I wish Daddy was dead". I want to finally get it published and that´s what I´m researching at the moment: how to get a book published.
Besides reading and watching films I love training dogs. I have got two dogs. George is a certified search and rescue dog and Loony is an apprentice search and rescue dog. George is a Border Collie and Loony is a Spanish Waterdog.

EP52: Child to Parent Abuse (00:30:59)
Michelle John from PEGS joins us to talk about child to parent abuse.
Michelle has the rare combination of a background in domestic abuse advocacy, lived experience, and the willingness and ability to speak up for her fellow parents. Having lived through Child to Parent Abuse, Michelle has truly harnessed the knowledge gained in a tough situation to help families across the UK. In addition to helping more than 1,400 parents impacted by CPA, she's delivered impactive training, highlighted the issue in the national press, and pushed for policy change via a number of high-profile speaking engagements. Previously, Michelle spent more than 15 years within the domestic abuse and family law sectors, alongside being a trustee for a national domestic abuse charity focused on male and LGBTQ+ victims of abuse. She is still a core supporter of a charity for veterans based in West Wales, where she lived before moving to Shropshire.
PEGS is a not-for-profit organisation set up to support parents, train professionals, raise awareness and influence national policy. For parents, there's a dedicated peer group, bi-weekly drop-ins, a tailormade EPIC confidence and coping techniques programme, counselling and advocacy - all open to any parent, carer or guardian with a child of any age from pre-school to adulthood and beyond. Professionals benefit from a range of bespoke courses designed to increase their knowledge and enable them to effectively support parents.

EP50: Emergency Legal Protection (00:32:22)
Sharon Bryan is the 'Head of Partnerships and Development for Domestic Abuse Services' for the NCDV which provides free emergency legal protection.
Sharon Bryan specialises in survivor consultation and intervention, risk assessment, facilitation of The Freedom Programme and Multi-Agency training. She has also trained student social workers and offers supervision to other professionals who work with women who have/are experiencing Domestic Abuse. Sharon has extensive experience of delivering consultation to Social Workers and Child Protection Chairpersons. She is a qualified IDVA and sat on the Westminster MARAC panel for 14 years. She is an accomplished public speaker and has been involved in media work including being on television, radio and writing numerous newspaper and magazine articles. She has also been an expert witness in criminal and civil courts of law.
From 2009, Sharon worked for The City of Westminster Council. Until 2016 she was the Senior Domestic Abuse Consultant for the groundbreaking ‘Family Recovery Programme’. In 2016 she became the Domestic Abuse Consultant for the Integrated Early Help Service at the council.
In January 2021, Sharon embarked on the next chapter of her career by joining the award winning NCDV (National Centre for Domestic Violence). Here she is developing a new and exciting role and is the ‘Head of Partnerships and Development for Domestic Abuse Services’.
Sharon was awarded the ‘Survivor of the Year” Award in 2012 by The Women’s Aid Federation of England in partnership with Avon and Marie Claire magazine. She was also nominated and shortlisted for the Emma Humphreys Memorial Prize in 2015 for her services to women experiencing domestic abuse.

Tracy Rector served as executive producer on her first foray into independent film with No Ordinary Love. She reached out to young filmmaker, Chyna Robinson, to write and direct a film on Intimate Partner Violence. Tracy served for seven years on the board of directors for SafeHaven of Tarrant County (Texas), the area’s only domestic violence shelter and service agency. Her experience on the board and as a survivor of a 23-year marriage with intimate partner violence drove her passion to raise awareness of domestic violence through film.

As a mum of 2, and a survivor of domestic abuse, Edwina knows what it takes to stand up, have courage and fight for what is best for her family. She is a self-confessed 'workaholic', and loves nothing more than to support others in their journey. Whether that be through bringing awareness of domestic abuse or through the business she now runs via her Facebook group Ed's Online Positivity Cafe.
Edwina suffered at the hands of her abuser for more than 10years before she moved both her and her children away and started to create a better future for them all. Edwina herself also has several chronic illnesses and has struggled with her own mental health so is no stranger to needing a supporting hand, but has not always had the courage or confidence to ask for it.

Born in London to Greek Cypriot parents Soulla Christodoulou was the first in her family to go to university and studied BA Hotel & Catering Management at Portsmouth University. Years later, after having a family of her own, she studied at Middlesex University gaining a PGCE in Business Studies and an MA in Education.
Her novels, Broken Pieces of Tomorrow and The Summer Will Come, are available on Amazon alongside her collection of poetry, Sunshine after Rain and her short story, Unlocked. Unlocked reached the top 14% of stories to receive a second read in the Spread The Word Competition in 2018. Alexander and Maria, a contemporary romance, was released in December 2020 through The Conrad Press and looks at one man’s disability and the impact it has on his life, relationships and ultimately his self-esteem and happiness.
Semi-biographical and inspired by her own marriage breakdown Broken Pieces of Tomorrow looks at themes of self-worth, psychological and emotional abuse, breaking free and cultural expectations. It has been a book club read as far as Canada and a popular choice for book bloggers worldwide.
She is a compassionate and empathetic supporter of young people. Her passion for teaching continues through private tuition of English Language and Children’s Creative Writing Classes. She offers writing support for businesses and mentoring for authors.
Her love of writing has connected her with a charity in California which she is very much involved in as a contributor of handwritten letters every month to support and give hope to women diagnosed with breast cancer. One of her letters is featured in a book Dear Friend, released in September 2017.
When asked, she will tell you she has always wanted to write and her life’s experiences, both personal and professional, have played a huge part in bringing her to where she was always meant to be; writing, supporting new writers and drinking lots of cinnamon and clove tea!

EP41: The Narcissist Hunter (00:38:30)
In order of importance, Lucy is a Mother of 3 sons, a published Author twice over (with a third book due out in March/April time) & a survivor of sexual coersion, domestic violence, rape, drug spiking and stalking.
She found herself tightly entrapped in offending behaviours and the archaic criminal justice system in 2016, which she says led her into severe moral injury, self harming, suicidal ideation and dangerous promiscuity. But, Lucy (who writes her books under the name L.W Hawksby) does credit the majority of the criminal justice system, with the long term solitude from society which pushed her to self-reflect and retract from more abusive relationships.
These days Lucy is to be found admiring the large blooms such as giant alliums, black tulips and poppies in the garden she plants and looks after for her neighbours, writing further books and water-colour painting unusual birds with her youngest son, Rufus, who is 10.

Vivien has worked in the field of Domestic Abuse for over 42 years. Her passion is driven by her best friend being assaulted at 21 yrs of age and being left in a waking coma for nearly 23 years before she died. She previously worked as a Company Secretary and started out her career with the Probation Service before starting a family. She campaigns for services on behalf of victims/survivors of abuse at local and national level. More recently she has been involved in advocating for work with those affected by early childhood trauma who perpetrate domestic abuse working on the Drive Project.
She has been associated with Victim Support for over 20 years she was an accredited Associate Trainer for Victim Support National Office and specialising in Domestic & Sexual Abuse Training. Her qualifications include: Counselling, Teaching, Child Protection & Executive Diploma in Management, Master Practitioner of NLP, Integral Eye Movement Therapy and accreditation for Hypnotherapy. She has delivered training on behalf of the local Community Safety Partnership & the Local Safeguarding Adults Board and Local Safeguarding Children Board in all aspects of Domestic Abuse, safeguarding adults and children in domestic abuse settings, working with perpetrators and the Marac process.

In 2017, Christelle took her kids and few items and left a 20-year marriage full of abuse, addiction, and betrayal. Christelle now advocates for mental health and women, spreading a message that women should be the greatest support of other women. She has told her story to raise awareness of both mental health and abuse on podcasts, LIVE shows, workshops, and her own blog. While she awaits the publishing of her children’s book, she is currently writing her memoir to raise further awareness and to remind women in abusive situations they are not alone. The NYSPCC - the world's first child protection agency - is a New York-based, national organization, involved in everything from counseling and trauma recovery programs to education programs and legislation, all with the goal of eradicating child abuse in all its forms someday. Though COVID-19 has presented many challenges in ensuring that our youth remain safe, Dr. Pulido and The NYSPCC have managed to find innovative ways of pressing forward to continue the critical work they are dedicated to doing (see below for additional information).

Jennifer Gilmour is an author and advocate for women in abusive relationships, using her own experiences of domestic abuse as a catalyst to bring awareness and to help others. Jennifer has published two publications, Isolation Junction and Clipped Wings which have both been Amazon Best Sellers and received awards. Jennifer speaks at events across the UK and continues to raise awareness through her blog posts, public speaking, radio interviews and social media.
Jennifer has listened to her readers and has grown a digital community to support discussions around domestic abuse online. Starting with her Twitter Chat which opened late 2017 #AbuseTalk, this developed into an online forum in 2018. In 2019, Jennifer launched a podcast which include interviews with those in the sector and gives followers the opportunity to ask burning questions.

Alison Bird was Services Director and Clinical Lead for Stalking at Changing Pathways and is now Training and Best Practice Lead at Changing Pathways. Changing Pathways is an Essex-based charity supporting victims of stalking and domestic abuse.
Alison has worked nationally and locally with stalking/domestic abuse survivors for over a decade and was one of the first established & accredited Independent Stalking Advocacy Case Workers (ISACs) in the UK. She is a leading expert in the stalking field and specialises in supporting & advocating for high risk stalking victims/survivors. As well as the general public, this has included MPs and other high profile figures.
Alison is a Visiting Senior Fellow for Social Policy at University of Suffolk and in 2021 will soon be releasing our first joint piece of work in my role as Fellow….
A speaker at national conferences, Alison also trains the police, Crown Prosecution Service, social care, statutory & non-statutory agencies and workplaces to enhance the understanding and the assessment of risks around stalking, domestic abuse and coercive control.
She was part of the consultation with key stakeholders & MPs for both the Stalking Protection Orders 2020 and the long awaited Domestic Abuse Draft Bill.
As part of the National Stalking Consortium she & her peers influence policy & policy makers on stalking matters.
In 2017 Alison was one of the expert panel members, as well as a critical reader, for the HMICs high profile inspection ‘Living in Fear’ examining how police and CPS were responding to stalking victims 5 years after the legislation was brought in. The inspection showed there is still a long way to go before agencies fully understand what stalking is and how to respond to victims appropriately.
Alison is keenly interested in the link between trauma experienced by domestic abuse and stalking survivors - both children and adults - and this is reflected in her trauma-perceptive approach. As a trained Domestic Homicide Chair the theme of trauma is paramount in all Domestic Homicide Reviews.
Alison continues to work passionately to educate all key organisations and advocates for victims and survivors of some of society’s most serious yet underestimated crimes. Despite protective legislation, training, sentencing guidelines and an increasing crime profile, victims are still too often let down by the system.

John is a highly experienced detective, having served with the Devon and Cornwall Police for over 28 years and retiring as Detective Chief Inspector in 2016. He was responsible for the prevention and investigation of domestic abuse, sexual abuse, child and vulnerable adult abuse. For the final four years of his police career he was the Force Lead for Domestic Abuse, Stalking and Harassment, Forced Marriage, Honour Based Abuse, Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) and Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults/Adults at Risk. He was a member of the Local Safeguarding Children Board and Safeguarding Adults Board. He is also an experienced Hostage and Crisis Negotiator and Coordinator.
John is an accredited and experienced Senior Investigating Officer and has worked and led on a number of serious and protracted investigations up to and including murder and in the later part of his police career, a number of high profile investigations in health-care settings.
John is a Domestic Homicide Review (DHR) Chair and has sat on five different DHR panels and is currently (September 2020) chairing six separate DHR's and a Child Learning Panel Review. Nationally, he was a member of the HMIC National Working Group for Domestic Abuse. He has also completed the accredited three day Karma Nirvana Honour Based Abuse and Forced Marriage training.
As Director of AbuseFreeLife John provides expert consultation and designs and delivers bespoke training for clients. He has trained police officers and representatives from other organisations around the United Kingdom on Domestic Abuse, Coercion and Control, Multi-Agency Risk Assessment Conferences, Honour Based Abuse and Stalking. He has lectured and spoken at a number of events including Exeter and Plymouth University, at the Department of Health National FGM Conference, the National Caldicott Guardians Conference, the National Stalking Conference, Coercion and Control Conference and presented to the Isle of Man Government (Tynwald) as they deliberate a new Domestic Abuse Legislative Bill and most recently at the annual London Safeguarding Adults Board Conference 2020.
