Ask Addoley + Anna is an ongoing collaboration which started in 2019 between artists Addoley Dzegede and Anna Ihle, presented online in a seasonal advice-podcast format.
How can you stay connected while living far from your partner? How to deal with envy? How to mingle at openings? Should I go on living with my ex? Whatever your question is, we will give our best advice from our perspectives.

Addoley + Anna Break Up With Forms feat Germain Ngoma + Cassie Thornton (00:47:25)
For Season 6, Addoley and Anna present one single episode: “Addoley + Anna Break Up With Forms”. Together they catch up after more than a year since their last recording. Addoley has spent a year in Europe as a Fulbright Researcher-in-Residence and Anna has been underground.
For their one-episode season, Addoley and Anna get help from artists Germain Ngoma and Cassie Thornton to figure out ways to handle an artist crisis, as well as what to do with all the stuff that compiles over the years. Cassie describes how art is a way to learn things that might be applied to a world on fire, and tells us how she has cursed paintings before distributing them to bankers. Germain explains how he visits the forest when he needs inspiration, and how much he loves his storage.

For Ask Addoley + Anna's bonus episode of The Friends Season, Addoley and Anna (while on their trip to visit CAC Brétigny) have invited a set of new guest advisors. They are joined by The Big Conversation Space (Niki Korth and Clémence de Montgolfier) to discuss experiences and thoughts about collaboration. One question tackled in this episode is taken directly from The Talking Cure, a project by The Big Conversation Space which is present in The Real Show at CAC Brétigny: "What is collective action and how can it co-mingle with individual agency?" The other question addressed is: How to deal with feelings about one's individual work/practice suffering while a collaboration is thriving? Introducing The Friends Season (00:38:14)
During their first episode of The Friends Season, Addoley and Anna are wishing they could have recorded from The Real Show at CAC Brétigny, but instead are recording from under desks in Tulsa and Stavanger. Having been invited to an exhibition that deals with questions of popularity and populism, they decide to invite friends of the podcast or friends of either Addoley or Anna. Addoley and Anna discuss the time in their lives that they connect the most with the idea of “popularity” and how the art world is connected to it.

In the final episode of Season 4: A Different World, Addoley and Anna have invited Maija Rudovska (Riga, Latvia), the curator of "A Structure Envisioned for Changing Circumstances," to help give advice along with her colleague Amy Mackie (from Parse Nola, New Orleans). In response to a listener's question about art travel and climate change, Maija challenges the notion of going back to "normal." Another listener wonders how to deal with envy towards their friends' successes, leading Amy to question how success is defined. Maija opens up about how she changed her perspective and stopped constantly running after "a better life." As curators, they both reflect on how to create boundaries for oneself and separate life and work in a healthy way. An artist with a practice spanning over a decade is wondering whether their work should surprise the audience with every new exhibition. For the third episode of Ask Addoley + Anna's Season 4, Anna and Addoley talk with artist and curator Kaspars Groševs in Riga and art worker Airi Triisberg in Tallinn.
Addoley records from her apartment, Anna in the hallway at home (complete with baby sounds in the background), and Kaspars from bed. With Kaspars, they talk about how their relationship with social media has changed during the pandemic. A listener is very tired of looking at contemporary art and wonders what to do. Perhaps they should spend their time looking at something else, as Kaspars suggests. Addoley prefers getting inspiration from things other than art in the world. Anna thinks spending longer stretches of time, even with bad art, can help. Anna brings up (again) the question of how to have meaningful conversations with artists without ego driving it.
When Addoley and Anna have Airi on, they tackle two of many workplace-related problems submitted by listeners. Airi draws on her own experience of working with art workers' rights. What do you do when you have a solo show at an institution but they refuse to pay you an artist fee? Or how can you follow up after taking all the steps in filing a complaint regarding sexual misconduct at your workplace?

Episode 1 Season 4 (01:10:58)
In the first episode of Season 4, "A Different World," Addoley and Anna are back after one and a half years, recording from Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Stavanger, Norway. Addoley and Anna tally things that have changed for them during the pandemic: Addoley learning Spanish and Anna becoming a mother.
David Ashley Kerr is the first guest of the season. David is a curator and artist, who lives and works in Riga. Latvia. Ask Addoley + Anna Episode 8 Season 3 (00:59:48)
In the final episode of Season 3, Addoley and Anna tackle their own reflections, evaluations, and frustrations working with the Nasjonalmuseet from a distance. Addoley points out that people possessing power can often be unaware of it themselves, and then Anna realizes that usually someone literally has to tell her «you have some power in this situation» for her to recognize it herself. They talk about how art institutions are not very good at listening to advice, the noticeable difference between how artists, art students, and museum staff answer questions, and more.
As a guest in this final episode, Lisa Bernhoft-Sjødin, Curator of Learning at the Nasjonalmuseet, helps Addoley and Anna give advice on topics from accessing networks to disrupting social hierarchies and leveraging power. Together they address the following:

Ask Addoley + Anna Episode 7 Season 3 (00:51:31)
In Episode 7 of Season 3, Addoley comes to the realization that free education is not as big of a solution to accessing an art education as she thought when so many other obstacles still abound, and Anna says part of the reason she makes art is to stave off boredom and wants to explore, surprise herself and make connections. In this episode, we speak with artist and director Uma Feed Tjelta, and artist and writer Agatha Wara. With our guests, we discuss which audiences museums cater to with their text, programming and exhibitions, how to stay creative with limited supplies, and problems with thinking about “marketability” when making art.
-At this specific moment in time, I think we (the museum) should be asking ourselves on whose premises are we attempting to be inclusive? -Are we just ticking off boxes and not really committing to inclusion beyond our need for getting a larger audience?

In Episode 6 of Season 3, Anna questions what Ask Addoley + Anna is doing for the museum (Does the museum actually want our help?
