  5. Episode 35: Mixing It Up In and Out the Classroom (00:54:49)

    On today’s episode we revisit our discussion about AI in the classroom. We do a deep dive on QuillBot, the Chrome extensions and service that uses AI to paraphrase and rewrite papers, mostly for students to evade AI detection in class. Then we briefly talk about Google’s AI test kitchen product Music FX DJ. Albert has used it a bit and we review some of his tracks. Let’s get into it.

  6. Episode 34: AI Music News Roundup (01:04:42)

    On today’s episode we discuss some AI news first in our AI Music News Roundup. We talk about the changes to Spotify’s DJ feature and if we would use it. Then we discuss if it’s possible to create anti-bangers on SoundCloud. Then we do a deep dive on Google’s Lyria 2 with some artists that have used it.     On today's episode we talk about a ⁠Yacht Rock⁠ music guide created by ⁠Gemini Deep Research⁠, then move to an interview with Suno CEO where he ⁠talks about music creation⁠ and says most people don't want to create music because it's too hard. Then we do a deep dive on ⁠DeepSeek⁠, the Chinese AI that came out recently, and finally we tease a future episode where we want to talk about more ⁠AI music generators⁠ that have come out.

  10. Episode 30: Can't Spell Christmas without AI (01:32:52)

    On today’s episode we do a themed episode about AI Christmas music. First we critique Coca Cola’s new AI generated Christmas commercials. Then Jacob creates AI Christmas music from Suno and Udio. We also do a roundup of other AI generated Christmas music from There I Ruined It and Obscure Vinyl. Then using Google Notebook LM we ask the AI hosts some questions live during their program. And finally we discuss how students used AI in our classes and thoughts of how they might use it in the future. Let’s get into it.

    On today’s episode we do another AI music news roundup. We talk about a Polish radio station using AI hosts to interview a dead Nobel laureate. Then the Beatles song, "Now and Then," makes history as the first AI assisted song to earn a Grammy nomination. And Disney Music Group using AudioShake to separate stems of classic songs using AI. Finally, I use Gemini to learn about the work of Simon Frith and we go on a tangent of Rolling Stones references on The Simpsons. Let’s get into it.

  12. Episode 28: Naughty Music, Theorizing Music, and Playing Music (01:19:34)

    On today’s episode we do an AI music roundup. We explore songs and channels from There I Ruined It, Almost Vinyl, and Vinyl Nightmares. Then we discuss conversations with Gemini about music, music theory, philosophy and a little critique of the "Star Spangled Banner" and vaporwave. Finally we just talk about learning musical instruments and how AI could be helpful for beginners and professionals. Let’s get into it.

  13. Episode 27: Podcasts Making Podcasts of Podcasts (01:08:51)

    On today’s episode we do a deep dive on Google’s Notebook LM Audio Overview. First we discuss how Notebook LM works, then some users who have created podcasts about other podcasts and podcasts about AI. In one example the hosts learn of the existential terror of learning they are machines. Jacob also creates an audio overview using some of our podcast documents. Finally, we catch up about students and what chatbots are good and bad at in music criticism. Let’s get into it.

  14. Episode 26: Paris Olympics Scores Some AI Gold (01:15:20)

    On today’s episode we do a deep dive on the Paris Olympics. We talk about the Olympics in general and how the broadcast is working on NBC and Peacock. Then we discuss the Nike House that uses technology to create AI shoes and T-shirt designs. Then more reaction to different technology companies that scout athletes and display over the broadcasts. Finally, we react to the now-pulled, Google Gemini commercial, "Dear Sydney." Let’s get into it.

  15. Episode 25: Mo Money Mo RIAA (01:02:58)

    On today's episode we discuss the record labels, including Sony, Universal and Warner, suing both Suno and Udio over copyright infringement. We discuss two podcasts that also covered the case, The Vergecast with Nilay Patel and Hard Fork with Kevin and Casey. Then we discuss YouTube and the business deals they are negotiating with the big music labels. Lets get into it.

  16. Episode 24: Apple, Venom, and Suno Walk Into a Bar (01:27:25)

    On today’s episode we discuss the news from Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference. We talk about the iPhone, Vision Pro, Apple’s plan for Apple Intelligence, how real people will use Apple AI, and possible future lawsuits. Then Ex-Venom drummer’s thoughtshon AI in music. And Suno, after raising $125 million they are now planning to pay out $1 million to creators in the “Summer of Suno”. Let’s get into it.

  17. Episode 23: Hearing Voices (01:26:26)

    On today’s episode we discuss the Open AI Scarlett Johansson news; watch and react to a Google Music AI endorsement from Wyclef Jean, Justin Tranter, and Marc Rebillet. Then we discussed how search impacts these tools and changes over time. Finally, we go deep on Frank’s band, San Tropez, and how Frank was able to use Logic Pro’s AI to separate a song into voice and instrument tracks. Somewhere along the way we also discuss Will I AM and his East LA accent. Let’s get into it.

  18. Episode 22: Where's the AI Beef? (01:19:01)

    On today’s episode we catch up on how AI was used in our classes this semester. Then a brief overview of the Drake vs. Kendrick rap beef, followed by a more in-depth discussion of the right to use AI Tupac in, "Taylor Made Freestyle". Then we discuss myvox and how it was used in the Randy Travis song, "Where That Came From". Let’s get into it.

  19. Episode 21: AI Music's New Kid On the Block (01:24:58)

    On today’s episode we discuss the latest news in AI music including Spotify’s personalized AI playlists made using prompts. Then we do a deep dive on Udio, which Rolling Stone called the "ChatGPT for music". We listen to various songs that journalists created and critique them. Finally we talk AI music covers and how that applies to pop culture in general. Let’s get into it.

    On today’s episode we have a special guest, Caleb Manifold, a student at Trinity University who used AI tools to create a music video for a special topics class on AI.
