- Ep 11 | Reflecting, Learning, Moving Forward N Things (00:40:17)
Alex is back with Episode 11 and bringing in the 1 year anniversary of the podcast and its birth! With gratitude, he reflects on where we have been, a bit of where we are and where we want to go eventually. He passionately talks about what this creative journey has been like and is excited to keep on sharing what he has in store. He mentions a favorite show and movie of his while talking about connections. He also goes into detail about how a couple of familiar legends continue to inspire him to move forward as someone who wants to impact and meaningfully connect with others.

Alex welcomes the podcast back after an extended break. Today, he dives into some hobbies that mean a lot to him! He talks about how taking interest in trading cards, being a gamer and genuinely enjoying anime/manga was viewed differently back when he was a child. He shares what he feels and thinks caused the public perception to mostly look down upon people with unique interests, but also what changed to the point where the tide has shifted and everyone is now more accepting of people in these distinguished hobbies. He also previews the NBA Finals between the Milwaukee Bucks and Phoenix Suns!

Alex shares some heartfelt sentiments on the significance of mental health to bring in Mental Health Awareness month. Then, he talks about all of the craziness and excitement around playoff season in some sports. His favorite international football team is not competing for Europe’s most coveted trophy, so he has to cheer for one of their rivals. Well, at least the Capitals are playing great hockey. Lastly, he enjoys sharing some thoughts and predictions about the end of the NBA regular season and upcoming playoffs along with getting hype for the 25th season of WNBA basketball.

He shares heartfelt thoughts on his favorite basketball players ever and how they have expanded their reach beyond just playing hoop along with talking about how this has and will continue to elevate the awareness, presence and voices of women in basketball and sports. Alex also gets excited recapping a bit of the excitement that captivated fans in the NCAAW tourney and how the game is in great hands with the bright young talent that made themselves heard this year.

Today, three lifelong anime fanatics collaborate on a meaningful and inspirational dialogue about a story that has been going strong for over two decades. Alex brings two more long time friends, Arty and AK, who influenced his choice to immerse himself in the world of One Piece to the podcast. We share what the 1000 chapter milestone means to us by starting off discussing what the show means to us from a thematic standpoint and we also share what keeps us engaged to the point where we always want to come back for more episodes (anime) or chapters (manga). Then, we exchange thoughts and ideas on Chapter 999 and its significance. We conclude the conversation by talking about the current Wano arc and a lot of what we believe will transpire surrounding this epic raid on an Emperor’s stomping ground. This conversation will show a lot of our profound love for the storytelling that takes place in One Piece. Honestly, it could’ve gone on forever! Maybe another time? Haha! It was so meaningful to have my guys on to have this inspirational and uplifting dialogue in a time where we all need to remind ourselves of what we love and remaining connected!

What happens when three like minded basketball loving enthusiasts enter the conversation? You get the first episode where Alex has special guests; two to be exact. How exciting! Ephraim and Tunji join Alex to provide some unique insight on many interesting topics on hoops. We start by talking about one of an NBA legend’s controversial, but very engaging Instagram posts about an all time irrefutable starting 5. We continue along by getting into the Christmas spirit by discussing some of our favorite signature moves that remind us of that feeling we get when opening gifts! Then, we finish the conversation by looking forward to the upcoming season talking about off-season news surrounding the players, teams and season. We conclude by making some predictions on what we think will happen!! This conversation was so much fun to have even though the time feels really different!!!

Alex gets excited to talk about his perspective on social media and how far it has come. He starts by acknowledging some impactful people who have been in the news. He then talks about how social media generally makes others feel connected or not while also reflecting on how he used to be uncomfortable with using social media. He goes on to describe the many distinctive ways in which social media creates connectivity between people on the internet that he appreciates. Finally, he briefly looks forward to upcoming episodes along with a change coming soon!

This conversation has Alex expressing how much he appreciates the concept of perspective and why it is critical to be mindful of it and embrace it as we continue to try and make the world a better place. He dives a bit into some current events before proceeding to discuss some powerful and meaningful advice and words that he was able to come across during some interactions with impactful people around him. In this conversation, he also mentions the audacious person who called out LeBron James and Kevin Durant for speaking truthfully! He closes by shouting out a Super Bowl person! And he reiterates how grateful he is to have people providing feedback, sharing their ideas and thoughts, and showing love and support as we continue our journey to more conversations and opening up to more perspectives!

Alex gets nervous and excited as he discusses the birth of his new podcast. He dives into the various things that inspired him to create it! He discusses the importance of how the NBA and WNBA are aligning their visions with that of their players so that they can not only respond to their calls to action for justice, but be a part of meaningful change in a critical time in our world. Then, he gets excited talking about the significance of the NBA bubble playoffs and how he very much enjoyed many things he witnessed!
