Mathieu 'Dubes' Dube is one of the OG's of Backyard Ultra's in Australia, breaking 40 yards back in 2022. This year has definitely been a breakout year for Dubes, breaking 50 for the first time in April and last weekend finishing as the Last One Standing by running 60 yards at GV, earning himself a Silver Ticket onto team Australia. Peter Clarke has believed in Dubes for a long time and has been at the helm crewing at all of Dubes races for the last 12 months.

- Macee Latimer (00:53:09)
Macee is a runner from New Zealand who ran her first Backyard Ultra in May at Best Dam Backyard. She finished as the Last One Standing with 43 yards, averaging 40 minutes a loop. Just last weekend Macee ran at Scenic Circles and finished as the Last One Standing again, this time with 38 yards. Macee hopes to qualify for the New Zealand Sat Champs team next year.
- Hendrik Boury - Bound for Bigs (00:58:31)
Hendrik is returning to Bigs Backyard next month to run in the Individual Backyard Ultra World Championships after a heartbreaking DNF in 2023. Last year Hendrik improved his Backyard PB to 82 yards at Suffolk BYU and he also finished as the Last One Standing for Germany at the Sat Champs.
- Josh & Kyle - Lumina Productions (01:16:54)
Josh and Kyle were at Dead Cow Gully this year following Harvey Lewis's journey and capturing it all on film. It was great to relive the epic record breaking race with Josh and Kyle from their perspective and to hear how they went through the film making process at Dead Cow Gully.
- Holly Ranson - 61 yards (01:22:15)
Holly ran her first Backyard Ultra in 2022 at Hysterical Carnage where she completed 30 yards before the race was stopped. Just recently she ran at Dead Cow Gully and ran a huge race running 61 yards, breaking the Australian women's Backyard Ultra record in the process. In October Holly is running at the 24 Hour World Championships in France. Go Holly!

This is the first of a 4 part podcast series that will follow James and Ryan on their journey. Colin ran his first Backyard Ultra in May at No Time to Die where he ran 25 yards. Last weekend Colin fronted up at Birdys and he had an incredible performance, finishing as the Last One Standing running 59 yards.
- Jashy - 100 Yards (01:12:40)
Jonathan Ash has rapidly made his way up the Backyard Ultra ranks since his 57 yard performance at Reds Last year. At Dead Cow Gully recently Jashy lined up alongside the worlds best and put on an incredible show, breaking 100 yards for the first time.
- Simon McLean (01:40:21)
Simon had a huge 2024 running Backyard Ultra's. He qualified for team New Zealand with a 51 yard performance at Kings and he backed up at the Sat Champs for his national team with 65 yards. Simon grabbed the bull by the horns at Dead Cow Gully where he ran an incredible 90 yards which qualifies him for the Individual BYU World Championship at Bigs in October.
- Phil Gore - 119 Yards World Record (01:22:24)
Phil Gore broke the Backyard Ultra world record at Dead Cow Gully by running 102 yards with Sam Harvey as the assist in 2023. Just over a week ago Dead Cow Gully was back with an amazing field of runners and Phil once again showed how good he is by running an absolutely incredible race, setting a new Backyard Ultra World Record of 119 yards.

Dead Cow Gully (Masters) is kicking off this weekend showcasing some of the best Backyard Ultra runners in the world. Race Mastermind and Director Tim Walsh came on to talk all things backyards and Dead Cow.
- Barry Thomas (01:25:53)
Nearly everyone who has run an ultra in Victoria would have met Barry in his sports beer marquee at some point. In the last couple of years Barry has really taken an interest in running Backyards himself and his results are impressive. Just recently at 2 Rivers Backyard Ultra Barry ran 31 yards, which at 62 years old is the most yards ever completed in a BYU by someone his age in Australia.
- Rose Fuller (01:19:06)
Rose ran her first Backyard Ultra last year at GV where she ran 19 yards. After GV Rose decided that she really wanted to commit to the BYU format and see how far she could go. Rose recently ran at 2 Rivers BYU and ran a huge race, completing 30 yards, which makes her only the fourth woman ever to break 30 yards in a BYU in Victoria.
- Lukasz Wrobel (01:00:57)
Lukasz grabbed the attention of the Backyard Ultra world last year with his amazing Last One Standing performance at Suffolk BYU where he ran 88 yards. A few weeks ago Lukasz ran at Legends BYU in Belgium, where he broke the Backyard Ultra WORLD RECORD by running for an incredible 116 yards.
- Kendall Picado Fallas (00:54:35)
Kendall ran his first Backyard Ultra last year at Sydney's and completed 18 yards. This year he fronted up to Sydney's again and ran an incredible race to complete 50 yards, making him at 21 years old, the youngest person in the world to break 50. Kendall's next race is on the 24th May in the USA at Nick Bare's Go One More Ultra.
- MelbOURne Frontyard - Nicholls & Dube (01:21:20)
In 2022 Ben Nicholls and Mat Dube were the first to take a Victorian Backyard Ultra into the 40's. Last week they were at it again, being the first to run a Victorian Backyard Ultra into the 50's (not including Sat Champs), at Melbourne Frontyard Ultra.
- Jonathan Ash - Jashy (01:20:10)
Jashy burst onto the Australian BYU scene last year when he ran 57 yards at Reds to qualify for team Australia. Since then he has proven himself to be one of the very best Backyard Ultra runners in the world, running 75 yards at the Sat Champs and most recently he finished as the Assist at Sydney's BYU with 80 yards.
- Tim Moffatt (01:32:21)
Tim is a familiar face in the BYU world through his crewing, running and providing statistical analysis. Tim was always planning for 2025 to be the year where he focusses on running Backyard Ultras and he started the year in the best possible way, finishing as the Last One Standing at Herdys, smashing his PB in the process and proving himself to be a really exciting runner to watch.
- Mitch McInnes (00:51:54)
Mitch ran 32 yards in his first Backyard Ultra last year at I'm Still Standing BYU and then 21 yards at Clint Eastwood. After some fine tuning of his race plan Mitch showcased what he is capable of with an outstanding 40 yard Last One Standing performance at 2025's I'm Still Standing BYU.
- Lizzie Gatherer (01:08:30)
Lizzie ran her first Backyard Ultra in 2021 where she completed 19 yards. She spent the next three years running many ultra's up to 200 miles till she returned to the Backyard racing world ready to make her mark. At Rasselbock BYU this year Lizzie finished as the assist running 50 yards, becoming the 21st woman in the world to reach the 50 yard milestone.
- Iain Bethune (01:19:31)
Iain Bethune's first Backyard Ultra was at the Cow Shed BYU in 2022 where he ran 27 yards. Iain and his wife Julie are believed to be the only Husband/Wife duo to have made their countries BYU team when they ran for team UK last year. - Dave Kwiatkowski (01:06:13)
Dave ran his first Backyard Ultra at Andy's BYU in 2021. He has been consistently improving since then, running 37 yards at Capital and 52 yards at Ohio's. Notably, he claimed the title of Last One Standing at Queeny BYU, which earned him a spot on Team USA for last year's Sat Champs. There, he delivered an outstanding performance, completing 64 yards and achieving his personal best to date.
- Duncan Nichols (01:20:09)
Duncan embarked head first into his running journey after discovering the Backyard Ultra format in early 2024 where he crewed for a friend at MVP. He made his Backyard Ultra debut at MVP this year, completing 26 yards and finishing in the top 5.
