At Age 7, Benny Mathew immigrated to the US from India. He grew up in a predominantly Sicilian neighborhood in the suburbs of Chicago, poor, chubby, and racially confused. He ended a marriage that did not bring him joy anymore, moved to Chicago, and joined the ranks of the single life.
