  3. Hello, I'm in Delaware (01:19:41)

Something a little different for you this week as I've kinda been struggling with a motivation to do this show and honestly a lot of things in my day to day life the last few weeks since the passing of my grandfather. I kinda go through some of the things I went through going back home to Delaware, presumably for the last time, and the feelings of being back "home" but realizing that it's also been the source for a lot of your insecurities due to familial issues from your childhood. I also share what it was like to not really get the last time home experience i was hoping for, how in death it seems that everyone still makes things about themselves, maybe myself included, and watching my mother carry the load of dealing with the loss of her dad for everyone else. SUPER personal episode for me, and something a bit out of the norm for the show.Intro Music:Hard Lines by Tom Denney Show Sponsor:Rockabilia (www.rockabilia.com) USE OUR CODE BREWTALLY AND GET 10% OFF YOUR TOTAL ORDER!!Links:Facebook:www.facebook.com/rockabiliacomwww.facebook.com/brewspeakpodInstagram:@rockabiliacom, @brewspeakpod, @jbeatty616Twitter:@rockabilia, @brewspeakpod, @jbeatty61Email:Brewtallyspeaking@gmail.comRATE/REVIEW/SUBSCRIBE!!!

Patrick shares his journey to sobriety and we of course nerd out a bit about the ever growing non alcohol space. We discuss the real stresses of touring as much as INK was and how Pat living a really nomadic lifestyle took it's toll on him, and how bands as a whole are starting to be more honest with fans about not being healthy, mentally or physically, and needing to take some breaks to avoid burnout or worse. Patrick and I discuss how we've learned to re evaluate a lot of relationships in our lives and through the prism of our working in the bar industry. 14. 497. Nick Hexum (311) (01:15:32)

Join Nick and I as we talk about the inspiration behind his series of solo EP's, the various moon phases, and how I became aware of one of them (waxing gibbous) due to my wife and I seeing a pretty moon one night and wondering what kind it was. From here we dip into Nick really looking inward over the last few years and wanting to challenge himself creatively outside of what 311 does and We discuss how barebones the songs seem to be, with the emphasis being placed more on the lyrics, but that even the songs arrangements and more so the instruments used were very intentional to help evoke the sentiments Nick is conveying. We look back on 3 decades of Nick's career, the journey it's taken him on and if the process of making music that's more immediate will maybe find it's way into creating the next 311 album and more. 22. 490. Lee Jennings (The Funeral Portrait) (00:39:46)

Join Lee and I as we catch up with him while the band was in the midst of their tour. Lee and I share some pleasantries from mutual friends of ours, and get into an interview he had done on Good Company with Bowling a few years prior and how I realized that the songs he was working on at the time were what would become "Welcome To Suffocate City". We get into how there was an obvious shift in how Lee and the rest of the band were taking their careers at that point, how that process was being on a developmental deal at the time when a lot of their contemporaries were being dropped and sticking to their guns in seeing their vision through. Lee also shares how impactful coming up in Atlanta was for the band in crafting a sound that is just as much a melting pot of influences as the city itself, as well as offering ample opportunities for him to learn the ins and outs of the music industry from working at local venues, touring with other bands as a Tour Manager, driver doing whatever it took to realize the dream of making music his career. We get into working with Spencer from Ice Nine Kills and more in this quick chat with The Funeral Portrait frontman.Intro Music:“Remember “This Night” (Podcast Edit) by Chae Hawk"Pretty Lights" by HeartsickShow Sponsors:Rockabilia (www.rockabilia.com) USE OUR CODE BREWTALLY AND GET 10% OFF YOUR TOTAL ORDER!!Links:Facebook:www.facebook.com/TheFuneralPortraitwww.facebook.com/rockabiliacomwww.facebook.com/brewspeakpodInstagram:@tfp_devotion, @leejennings, @rockabiliacom, @brewspeakpod, @jbeatty616Twitter:@TFP_devotion, @xLEEJENNINGSx, @rockabilia, @brewspeakpod, @jbeatty616Website:TFPcoffincrew.comEmail:Brewtallyspeaking@gmail.comRATE/REVIEW/SUBSCRIBE!!!

  24. 488. John Kevill (Warbringer) (01:20:28)

Join John and I as we kick things off discussing how intentional the release date of the bands upcoming release, Wraith and Ruin coming out March 14th via Napalm Records, was. From there we take a bit of a deep dive into the lyrical content of the album, how a lot of it touches on things that continuously happen over the course of our existence, but we seemingly don't learn from our past mistakes. John talks about the struggles of putting out one of the groups most acclaimed albums and feeling that the band was on the verge of something big, only to have the pandemic take it all away, and how that really drove him to really up the ante lyrically on this album. All that and more in our chat with the Warbringer vocalist. Join Nick and I as we catch up for the first time in a few years. Nick and I reminisce about the tour I had booked for his old band, Que Sera. How it was for him to put that band to rest after many years and starting to see some success before the end. Nick shares how it was for him to step out on his own and becoming a hired gun for a more pop leaning artist, as well as adjusting to life out on the West Coast being from an East Coaster most of his life. We also get into how Nick ended up joining The Dark, some of the challenges he's faced switching over to bass from guitar, as well as the joy of playing something with a little more aggression. What the band has in store for the rest of this year and more.
