To mark World Mental Health Day 2020, I am releasing this autogenic guided meditation to reduce fear, anxiety disorders, depression and stress. This practice is deeply relaxing and will help you to let go of whatever is emotionally holding you back.
- Working with Your Emotions (00:16:37)
Emotions are not our enemy and we don't have to try and run away from them or fight them. This meditation will help you work your way through your emotions in a mindful way. A way that is going to help you let go and move on.
- Analysing Anger (00:14:35)
Many meditations help you deal with anger once it has arisen. This meditation is more proactive. Through a series of questions, it helps you to think about what triggers your anger, it gives you an opportunity to get to know your anger and allows you time to think of an antidote.
- Facing Grief And Loss (00:11:47)
Grief is the acute pain that accompanies loss. It is deep, because it is a reflection of what you love, and it can feel all-encompassing. Grief can follow the loss of a loved one, both human and animal. In this meditation you bring the person you are grieving over into your mind and talk to them and reflect on the good times you have spent together. It allows you a safe place to face your emotions.
- Coronavirus: Dealing With Fear And Anxiety (00:13:40)
The world is going through a very challenging time, due to the Coronavirus. Many people are becoming sick and having to isolate. This is causing huge amounts of fear, anxiety and panic. All of these ultimately stem from our minds. It is not possible to control the spread of the virus, but it is possible to control our minds and the way we respond to it. This guided meditation will help you deal with your thoughts of fear, anxiety and panic by showing you they are just thoughts and so we can learn to let them go. Please stay safe and healthy at this difficult time.
- Finding Forgiveness (00:09:30)
Forgiveness doesn’t mean being passive or not taking action. It doesn’t mean standing down when we need to protect ourselves or someone else from harm. You practice forgiveness for your own sake, so you are not locked in bitterness, sadness and resentment. These just harden your emotions, narrow your options in responding to life, cloud your judgment and shift your attention from those who matter to you to those whom you dislike. This guided meditation helps you to give forgiveness to yourself and others.
- Downsizing Pain (00:09:00)
it's not uncommon for physical illnesses, especially ones causing chronic pain, to lead to mental suffering. In this visulisation meditation, you are guided to downsize your pain through various exercises. You will be asked to rate the pain and see it as a shape and colour, and by altering your image of the pain, you will be able to reduce your pain levels. www.buddhismguide.org
- Allowing Your Thoughts To Flow (00:12:16)
What is it that makes us emotionally suffer the most? Often, it is our thoughts. We tend to believe every thought and chase after each and every one. This causes anxiety, stress, and even obsessive behavior. This guided practice helps you to see thoughts are just thoughts and teaches you how to let them rise and fall on their own.
- Compassion Awareness - Open Awareness Open Mind Meditation (00:13:57)
Compassion means that we care for the well being of others. We wish them peace and happiness and do not want them to suffer. In this meditation, Lama Yeshe invites you to look at compassion through your own experience. He asks you to think about 'What does it feel like to have compassion towards others?' and 'What does it feel like when others show compassion towards you?' If you feel that you may need to boost your compassion for others, then this meditation is for you. This guided meditation has been taken from Open Awareness, Open Mind by Karma Yeshe Rabgye. Death is always a difficult subject for us to face, but by ignoring it, it will not go away. In this meditation Lama Yeshe gently invites you to face up to death. We cannot truly live our lives until we have dealt with death, because we will always have the fear of death in our minds. - Illusions meditation 8 - Taking Precepts (00:08:50)
Ritual to Take Buddhist Precepts Take a seated position in front of an image or statue of the Buddha. If you don’t have such an image you can instead imagine the presence of the Buddha in front of you. If the idea of the Buddha is too religious for you then instead bring to mind a group of people who you respect to bear witness to your commitment. Imagine them seated in front of you. Go down on one knee and place the palms of your hands together in a gesture of prayer. Initially set your motivation clearly. You are taking these precepts to benefit yourself and the people you come into contact with in your circle. After setting your motivation in this way repeat three times the precepts you wish to take from the list below. 1. I undertake the precept to refrain from physical violence, harming or destroying the life of living creatures. 2. I undertake the precept to refrain from taking that which is not given. 3. I undertake the precept to refrain from sexual activity that harms myself or others. 4. I undertake the precept to refrain from speaking falsely. 5. I undertake the precept to refrain from intoxicating drinks and drugs. After repeating these vows, feel that they have been accepted deep within your mind and have permanently cut off many paths of careless and harmful behaviour in this lifetime. Imagine all the regret and stress that such unskilful behaviour bring on has been freed from your body and mind. Reflect on this for a few moments and relax. This practice is extracted from a new book 'Illusions on the Path', now available on Amazon and Kindle: amzn.to/2Gmly6z Many thanks to Karma Yeshe Rabgye for recording this meditation Website - bit.ly/BuddhismGuide
