89: The Boys on the Tracks: The Unsolved Murders of Don Henry and Kevin Ives (00:45:32)
In August 1987, teenagers Don Henry and Kevin Ives were killed when a freight train struck them as they lay on railroad tracks near Alexander, Arkansas. Authorities initially ruled the deaths an accident, claiming the boys had fallen asleep on the tracks. But their families challenged that conclusion, leading to a second autopsy and a grand jury ruling the case a probable homicide. As the investigation unfolded, witnesses died under suspicious circumstances, allegations of corruption surfaced, and theories emerged suggesting the teens may have witnessed criminal activity. Despite decades of scrutiny, media attention, and persistent efforts by the victims’ families, the case remains unsolved, leaving lingering questions about what truly happened on the tracks that night.SOURCES:Book:The Boys on the Tracks by Mara Leveritthttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Killing_of_Don_Henry_and_Kevin_Iveshttps://encyclopediaofarkansas.net/entries/kevin-ives-and-don-henry-12289/ https://www.thv11.com/article/news/local/former-wrestler-claims-he-witnessed-murders-of-don-henry-and-kevin-ives/91-518352443#:~:text=February%2013%2C%202018-,Over%2030%20years%20after%20the%20murder%20of%20Kevin%20Ives%20and,Clinton%20Body%20Count%22%20conspiracy%20theory.https://www.facebook.com/ARJusticeProject/posts/saline-county%EF%B8%8F-cold-case-%EF%B8%8Fthe-cold-case-of-kevin-ives-and-don-henrysummary-on-au/757755813630339/https://nymag.com/news/features/conspiracy-theories/clinton-body-count/?fbclid=IwY2xjawOIYPVleHRuA2FlbQIxMABicmlkETFBODltRE5WVkw3d1Z4RnNCc3J0YwZhcHBfaWQQMjIyMDM5MTc4ODIwMDg5MghjYWxsc2l0ZQEyAAEeRaQU1MRZBGiW6KIfohsLx-7VDI9cXurBSIh5qXcyAM8-NDiy5vPxLPbt8b0_aem_NpzIh7Wy7peMSpzXFCm9sQ https://www.arkansasonline.com/news/2023/sep/23/ex-saline-county-prosecutor-dan-harmon-convicted-of-corruption-charges-in-1990s-dies-at-78/ https://unsolved.com/gallery/don-henry-kevin-ives/https://www.wsj.com/articles/SB831418392332495500?gaa_at=eafs&gaa_n=AWEtsqfBuAVBvo0b3gGJQT3lsVDSZfj8bKgty9_pqlsNMs6O5bx0TvW5Z2o8pW703ac%3D&gaa_ts=691b8a29&gaa_sig=AtWTm0FnNeO9ikDeAp3GO9PdvM_yLrGn_CDv-ep9r-wZed9xaYH32rZE_uVibr1LDMnJC3tXfkojYW5h8SrSLA%3D%3Dhttps://www.newspapers.com/image-view/1230916177/?match=1&terms=%22kevin%20ives%22https://katv.com/news/local/fbi-memo-reveals-drug-smuggling-at-mena-airport-in-1980https://www.newspapers.com/image-view/1104211770/?match=1&terms=%22kevin%20ives%22https://www.nwaonline.com/news/2021/jun/05/mom-of-cold-case-victim-dies/ https://www.newspapers.com/image-view/1220820691/?match=1&terms=Don%20Henry%20and%20Kevin%20Iveshttps://www.newspapers.com/image-view/562539412/?match=1&terms=Don%20Henry%20and%20Kevin%20Ives Misc.https://law.resource.org/pub/us/case/reporter/F3/255/255.F3d.560.00-1411.htmlhttps://www.reddit.com/r/UnresolvedMysteries/comments/1ji8njx/atrocities_in_arkansas_don_henry_kevin_ives/

Soft-spoken, hardworking, and new to America, Siwiak had spent his final year juggling multiple jobs to support his family back home. But on the night he set out in search of honest work, he crossed paths with violence no one has yet been able to explain.SOURCES:https://www.ranker.com/list/overlooked-case-connections/patrick-thorntonhttps://abcnews.go.com/US/asked-evening-murder-911-unsolved-york-city/story?id=57457505https://abc7ny.com/post/henry-siwak-september-11-murder-bedford-stuyvesant/13781934/https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Killing_of_Henryk_Siwiak https://www.nytimes.com/2011/09/10/nyregion/brooklyn-murder-on-sept-11-2001-remains-unsolved.html?_r=0https://www.refworld.org/reference/countryrep/hrw/2002/en/21884https://www.cbsnews.com/news/law-enforcement-warning-threat-jewish-israeli-supporters/

79. Idling on the Interstate: What Happened to Paige Renkoski? (00:43:26)
In 1990, substitute teacher Paige Marie Renkoski, 30, vanished under chilling circumstances on Interstate 96 near Fowlerville, Michigan. Hours later, her 1986 Oldsmobile was found idling on the roadside with her purse and shoes inside—but no sign of Paige. The case suffered early missteps: police treated the scene as an abandoned vehicle rather than a potential crime scene, delaying vital investigation. Despite fingerprints, tips, searches—like ground-penetrating radar and FBI digs—no trace of Paige has ever been found. The case remains one of Michigan’s most puzzling cold cases, with authorities believing it may only be solved if someone steps forward, perhaps even decades from now.Join us as we unravel the timeline, examine the evidence, explore the tragic theories, and sit with the hope—and heartbreak—that still lingers in the search for Paige.SOURCES: coming soon!

70. The Unsolved Murder of Emily Pike with Robert Anglen and Lauren De Young (00:49:56)
We’re thrilled to bring you a first in this episode: not one, but two special guests — neither of whom we know personally! We're honored to be joined by Robert Anglen and Lauren De Young from AZCentral, a newspaper with the USA Today network. Together, we’ll be discussing the unsolved murder of 14-year-old Emily Pike in Arizona.Emily was an Indigenous teen who loved the color pink, her cat, and all things glitter. In January, she went missing after sneaking out of the group home where she was staying in Mesa. For nearly three weeks, her loved ones searched for her— until her body was tragically discovered, dismembered and left in garbage bags off Highway 60. Police are actively investigating, but many questions remain unanswered. By sharing Emily’s story, we can help bring attention to her case and, hopefully, find the justice and peace that she and her family deserve.SOURCES:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0mIzynuFs1Ahttps://www.fox10phoenix.com/news/missing-persons-report-14-year-old-emily-pike-reveals-more-details-lead-up-her-gut-wrenching-deathhttps://peoplesworld.org/article/murder-of-14-year-old-emily-pike-san-carlos-apache-sparks-grief-among-indigenous-nationwide/https://www.azfamily.com/2025/03/18/authorities-investigate-another-murder-where-emily-pikes-remains-were-found/https://www.abc15.com/news/state/sister-of-native-man-killed-four-years-ago-speaks-out-about-casehttps://ictnews.org/news/apache-strong-mural-honors-slain-teen-emily-pikehttps://www.yahoo.com/news/san-carlos-apache-tribe-demands-184326871.htmlhttps://www.12news.com/article/news/crime/true-crime/arizona-legislature-oversight-hearing-group-home-policies-emily-pikes-murder/75-17c294f0-700e-4bac-be76-efc54d3a509chttps://www.desertsun.com/story/news/local/cathedral-city/2025/03/14/rally-for-slain-indigenous-girl-emily-pike-held-in-cathedral-city/82365655007/https://www.azcentral.com/staff/2648394001/robert-anglen/https://www.azcentral.com/staff/75165552007/lauren-de-young/https://www.fox10phoenix.com/news/emily-pike-teen-did-not-want-go-back-group-home-more-than-year-before-her-murder-report-sayshttps://tip411.com/sign_inhttps://www.abc15.com/news/local-news/investigations/foster-home-ceo-confident-emily-pikes-killer-will-be-foundhttps://www.fox10phoenix.com/news/reward-grows-emily-pike-case-investigators-look-leadshttps://www.12news.com/article/news/regional/native-america/emily-pike-mmiw-murder-funeral/75-6f75e989-2a0f-4c58-92b1-418e686bdead https://www.12news.com/article/news/regional/native-america/emily-pike-mmiw-murder-funeral/75-6f75e989-2a0f-4c58-92b1-418e686bdeadhttps://azmirror.com/2025/03/17/apache-strong-mural-honors-slain-teen-emily-pike-as-community-demands-justice/https://www.fox10phoenix.com/news/celebration-life-honored-14-year-old-emily-pike-highlights-her-zest-life-calls-justicehttps://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/death-emily-pike-teen-found-dismembered-arizona-spurs-calls-regulation-rcna197982https://apnews.com/article/san-carlos-apache-teen-mmip-8daaafb54cbd8a2ac635ec796baa0b16
69. Vacation Turned Nightmare: The Akeo Timeshare Dispute (01:01:08)
A Michigan couple, Paul and Christy Akeos, are currently detained in Mexico after being accused by a timeshare company, Palace Resorts, of fraud. The company alleges the couple breached their membership contracts by promoting their benefits on social media and encouraging others to exploit them. They also dispute over $100,000 in chargebacks. The Akeos' lawyer denies the fraud claims. The family says they have proof that Palace Resorts breached their contract, and that the chargebacks are legal. You may remember Lindsey Hull from our guest episode on Larry Nassar. Beyond being a wonderful guest, she’s a close friend of Mallory’s and more like family. Christy and Paul are her mom and stepdad. This situation has been incredibly hard to navigate and now we need your help. PLEASE, if you feel inclined… research, share, tag and call upon lawmakers to bring momma Christy and Paul HOME #JusticeForAkeos#UPDATE: The family’s lawyer confirms that the evidence the Akeo’s defense team submitted in their second hearing was not admitted, simply because it was not in Spanish. The judge has also granted Palace Resorts a six month extension to gather evidence, and denied house arrest to the Akeos… meaning they are stuck in the Mexican prison for at least another six months. We will continue to provide updates as we get them. 68. Indiana Cold Cases: The Murders of Keyla Weddel and Sheri Herr (00:52:09)
This week we're examining two Indiana cold cases that happened within a year of each other. In both cases a young woman was murdered and police seem to know who committed the crime but don't have enough evidence to go to court. However, one case received a ton of local media attention, while the other hasn't been mentioned since 1995. Get ready to park yourself at speculation station because we have A LOT TO SAY. 66. Shrinkflation: A Shady, Shrouded, but Sanctioned Business Strategy (00:36:13)
We needed a bit of a palette cleanser, so Megan is bringing us back into the world of white-collar crime. However, today's case is TECHNICALLY legal, it doesn't make it any less shady. Shrinkflation is when a company makes changes to a product, reducing its value, while keeping the price the same or even increasing the price ever so slightly. This entirely legal practice is yet another way for companies to cut corners at the expense of consumers. BUT we're here to help you stay informed and know what to look for!
