As the world starts to open back up, self care is more necessary than ever. And nobody is utilising that more than fast fashion brands... This episode we explore what self care as a concept really means and how we can differentiate healing practices that allows us to feel more grounded and the empty top tips that companies try and sell us! 2. Investigating the Trial of Alex Salmond - Episode 40 (00:51:48)

It's the first instalment of our new series where we investigate stories of people in the spotlight who have committed or allegedly committed crimes behind the curtain of fame/power. This episode we talk about the sexual misconduct trial of Alex Salmond, former first minister of Scotland and leader of the SNP. Although he was found not guilty, there is a lot to unpack within this story and how the trial unfolded. So many people have come out to corroborate the idea that Salmond has acted inappropriately with women throughout his career so is he completely innocent or did he just get away with it? All allegations in this episode are of course alleged and we are fully aware Alex Salmond was found not guilty. We just wish to look into the trial and also discuss the wider concept of sexual misconduct trials and the judicial system. As always follow us on Instagram/Facebook @deadtalkpodcast

How much autonomy do we have over social media and its affect on us? I can put the phone down whenever I want, man... We dissect the culture that has been built around social media and whether we think it's more detrimental than it is beneficial. Can you build and tailor a feed that has a positive impact on your mental health or is it best to go cold turkey all together? We butcher the term Munchausen Syndrome about 15 times and Lucy compares her getting appendix surgery to Gypsy Rose's life somehow... We'd also like to issue a trigger warning. An experience I would personally kill my own family to relive. As always follow and tag us on social media when you listen! Instagram/Facebook @deadtalkpodcast Twitter @deadtalkpdcast

  17. Robert Coleman and The Death Penalty - Episode 23 (00:33:26)

This episode your hosts are drunk and opinionated! Which, to be honest, is exactly how they act most episodes. This week Lucy and Alex discuss the face of the Anti Death Penalty movement of the 1980's even featuring in TIME magazine. With each gin poured the conversation gets more heated and less comprehensible discussing the police system, the sustainability of the death penalty as a system and Alex becoming a crime scene photographer... Arguably France's most brutal sisters in history, the tale of Christine and Lea Papin is a rollercoaster! These two house maids had had enough of folding socks and washing floors and boy did they make it known. Make sure you've got a strong stomach and a drink to join in while your hosts tell this gruesome tale of one of the most notorious murder cases in France's history. So you're thinking, a murder where the killer hasn't been found? That's not rare, silly intern that Lucy and Alex can most definitely pay to write these episode descriptions! Well, to that I would say, but what if there was evidence pointing to the possibility that Cindy might have staged multiple attacks prior to her murder and even the death itself? Also, I don't get paid enough. Let us know what you think happened once you've listened to the episode! As always, follow us on our social media @deadtalkpodcast on Instagram/Facebook and @deadpdcast on Twitter.

  20. Tragic Life of Mata Hari: Sex Icon Turned WWI Spy - Episode 20 (00:45:31)

As requested by a listener, this week Lucy and Alex cover the wild and tragic life of Mata Hari. A woman who brought exotic dance to the forefront of mainstream entertainment in the early 1900s by branding herself as a Hindu princess and advocate of embracing sexuality. She based her entire act around an ethnicity she didn't really have. Your hosts explore the tale of Mata Hari and whether this culturally appropriating sex symbol turn WWI spy for French Intelligence was guilty of exploiting a culture or victim to Europe's fascination with the 'exotic East' including Mata's dark features and tanned skin. More importantly, the name Catarina Ten Hooves is discussed as possibly the best alias ever and how Alex is now leader of the Glasgow young team. As always, if you've enjoyed the episode please tag us on your social media and follow us! @deadtalkpodcast on Facebook/Instagram and @deadtalkpdcast on Twitter!

  21. The Unidentified Sommerton Man - Episode 19 (00:40:50)

One of the biggest questions in true crime is who was the Sommerton man? And also why hasn't this podcast been pulled off air yet? This episode Lucy and Alex discuss the mysterious identity of a speculated spy who turned up dead on a beach in Sommerton, Australia in 1948. His pockets full of cryptic messages that have never been deciphered and his identity never revealed, this man has become one of the most recognisable yet unknown faces in true crime. Was he assassinated? Was it a suicide? Why does Stuart Little make an appearance in this episode? So many questions, so little time. As always, please follow us on social media @deadtalkpodcast on Facebook and Instagram and @deadtalkpdcast on Twitter!

  22. Annabelle: The True Story - Episode 18 (00:48:35)

You think you know the story about Annabelle the doll because you've seen the film? WRONG - you've just seen a terrible horror film. This episode Lucy and Alex delve into the true story about the real Annabelle doll. They discuss the iconic paranormal investigating duo, Ed and Lorraine Warren and how devilish this little doll really was. Do they taunt Annabelle to the point in which they almost invite themselves to be possessed by her themselves? Yes, probably. All rules are off when it comes to this demon, especially for poor Lou (he gets a really shafting by our Annabelle.) As always please follow us on social media @deadtalkpodcast on both Instagram and Facebook. And @deadtalkpdcast on Twitter. If you've enjoyed the episode please share it and tag us, we really appreciate it!

  23. The Mysterious Disappearance of Brian Shaffer - Episode 17 (00:47:30)

This episode Lucy and Alex discuss the cold case and ominous disappearance of Brian Shaffer. 27 year old medical student Brian strangely vanished after a night out with friends celebrating the start of spring break. But don't worry its not all doom and gloom, this story features a bar that has categorically the best name for a bar ever - THE UGLY TUNA SALOONA! Alex and Lucy contemplate whether the Duolingo Owl deserves to be served a restraining order and be charged with excessive harassment and Lucy finds out some pretty devastating news about her former love and role model, Dog The Bounty Hunter. This episode is a ride, and probably not in a good way. Follow us on Instagram and Facebook @deadtalkpodcast

  24. George Stinney - Episode 16 (00:43:08)

This week, with the current climate in mind, we decided to focus on a story that highlights the systemic racism that has been prevalent in the criminal system. We are talking about the devastating story of George Stinney, a 14 year old black child who became the youngest person to ever be sentenced to death and executed in the United States. We hope this episode can serve as a point of education and only add our contribution to the discourse of black injustice. We will be linking various donation sites on our social media accounts and sharing informative and important content to help educate us all on this issue that must continue to be discussed. 25. Do You Believe in Reincarnation? - Episode 15 (00:41:02)

I know... we're confused too, this week your hosts get philosophical and discuss reincarnation. We discuss the story of the Pollock twins who believed they were the reincarnation of their late siblings who passed in a car accident before they were born... This leads to some (dare I even say it) pretty well rounded discourse around the subject and exploration on both sides of the argument. I mean, don't worry we haven't gone too academic on you, there's still a healthy amount of tripe in this episode varying from whether any WW2 fighter jets in were Boeing 747s and how San Francisco was probably a bottle of poppers in a past life. But what do you think? Is Kirstie from HR delusional for believing that fortune teller who told her she was the Virgin Mary's nail tech in another life? Or do you believe in reincarnation? As always make sure to follow our social media accounts and tag us if you're sharing that you're listening @deadtalkpodcast on both Instagram and Facebook. That means you, Kirstie.
