EP034 Crossroads (00:37:42)
Have you ever reached that point in your life where you've said "there's more for me out there than this". Have you ever taken action on those instincts?
Work, home life, relationships... they can all reach a point where they feel stagnant and not developing into anything more. We are at the point where we've started making plans to live the best life we can for our family and taking the leap into something exciting (and scary at the same time).
Along with that, we chat about the struggles of returning to work after a stint of annual leave, and we do a quick recap of how heat affects workers underground and what you can do to combat heat stress.

This episode is just touching base on why we've been a bit quiet and what we're currently going through with sickness, grieving, stress among many other things. Life gets tough when you're working FIFO and lack of face to face communication definitely doesn't make things much easier when all you want to do is be there to help each other!

FIFO life is a 2-way street with a young family. Everyone talks about dad working away, but the work that mum does to keep the fort running at home often gets swept under the rug. Not getting paid for the work of being a mum (or getting any super), putting their career on hold and just generally being on call 24/7; being a FIFO mum isn’t an easy gig! We discuss the misconceptions made about stay-at-home mums especially the “sitting around the house all day” comment and a lot of the other issues FIFO mums face!

EP025 Pregnancy & FIFO (01:05:34)
Pregnancy. It can be the most amazing thing; the excitement of growing this tiny human, thinking of names, setting up their room and picking out clothes. But it also comes with a lot of struggles, especially when your partner works away for multiple weeks at a time in remote areas with bugger all phone signal.
We discuss the struggle of lining up cycles with our weeks off, the feeling of not being able to help while you’re away, being pregnant during a pandemic, the list goes on!
On top of all of that… when the fuck do you tell your partner?! Do you get too excited and tell them while they’re away or wait till they get home so you can surprise them in person?
